    Joy

Daily meditation Tuesday 30th of June 2009

"The cause of true joy is not found in anything visible or tangible; nothing causes it, it’s simply the sensation of existing as a soul and spirit. So, instead of waiting to possess something or someone before you can experience joy, do the opposite: rejoice simply in the existence of people and things for, in this joy they give you, you have the feeling they belong to you. The only things that truly belong to you are those that give you joy. Your possessions, on the other hand, do not necessarily give you much joy.
Everything that brings you joy you possess, and much more than if you owned it. There is so much joy to be felt before the beauty of nature, a sunrise, or a starry sky! And yet they are not physically yours. So, the most important thing is not your ownership of anything but your capacity to experience joy."

    Creation.........A work of Art

Daily meditation Monday 29th of June 2009

"The creative instinct is deeply rooted in all human beings. But if they have not developed the faculties that allow them to contact the higher worlds, their works will be mere copies, reproductions, not true creations. Just as when fathers and mothers reproduce their own weaknesses and deficiencies in their children and call it creation, when in reality it’s just a reproduction!
True creation calls upon elements of a spiritual nature. Artists who wish to create must surpass themselves, excel themselves; in other words, they must rise to the heavenly regions through prayer, meditation and contemplation in order to capture elements for use in their work. Only on this condition will their works of art possess elements that will surpass the ordinary level of awareness and truly deserve the name of ‘creation’."

    Gifts

    WORD FOR THE DAY

    The Greatest Reward

Daily meditation 28th of June 2009

"Whatever happens, never forget human beings are your brothers and sisters, and look for ways to help them and show them your love without expecting anything in return. Because, really, you already have your reward in the inner expansion and warmth that pervades you when you love. That is a great reward, there is no greater one in life. For then your heart is like a river, a source of living water.
Humans always expect to be rewarded for the good they have done. But those who have understood the secret of love don’t expect anything in return, they don’t even think they can be given anything, for they already taste a happiness beyond anything they could have imagined. As they are not lacking anything, they don’t expect anything; they swim in joy, they are radiant, and in this way they gain the confidence of many friends. Where will you find a greater reward than that?"

    Fervour

    WORD FOR THE DAY
    Saturday, Jun. 27

    When the soul betrays itself

    and loses the blessed and

    longed-for fervor, let it care-

    fully investigate the reason

for losing it. And let it arm

itself with all its longing and

    zeal against whatever caused

     this. For the former fervor

    can return only through the

     same door through which

     it was lost.

    Learning

Daily meditation Saturday 27th of June 2009

"Never say, ‘I know all about this, there’s nothing else for me to learn or understand!’ For that is the worst possible attitude for your evolution; when you think like that you stagnate, and that’s it. The right attitude to have is to tell yourself each day, ‘Ah, today I’m finally beginning to understand! Yesterday, I was still pretty unclear’, knowing you’ll say exactly the same thing the next day.
So many people, for example, think they know what love is! In reality, they scarcely know the first degrees of love, its first manifestations, and they imagine they know all about it! That is why they are sluggish, dull and disillusioned. Love has millions and millions of degrees, and each day you should experience some of these and say to yourself, ‘My God, yesterday I thought I knew what love was, but I can see I knew nothing about it. Only now am I beginning to understand’… and the next day you must tell yourself the same thing."

    Direction

Daily meditation  Friday 26th of June 2009

"The direction you take and the idea you live and work for must be what is most important to you. If you work for a divine idea, it will lead you to light, peace and joy.
But are humans taught all the benefits they will obtain if they work for a divine idea? No, they are taught how to earn money, how to fulfil their ambitions and satisfy their appetite for pleasures. So years and years go by, and one day they discover that what they have experienced has not been real life. But it’s a bit late to make that discovery. What a waste of time! Whereas, for those who progress while nurturing a divine idea in their head and heart, this idea acts as a light, showing them the goal they have to reach and, at the same time, lighting their path to it. And one day, in spite of the obstacles, they feel they are being welcomed into their celestial homeland."

    Money.........isn't everything!!

Daily meditation the Wednesday 24 of June 2009

"Money is obviously necessary, but as soon as you have enough to live on it’s better if it remains a minor concern, otherwise you will have to sacrifice all that’s best in you to it. For, suppose you amass a fortune, what will you really gain if it blunts your sensitivity? You will not even be able to enjoy the advantages your fortune brings you; you’ll no longer feel anything. You will have everything you want, but you’ll be miserable, for you will have destroyed that something inside you that gives the most exquisite flavour to everything you taste. And that’s what unhappiness is: to have the possibility of obtaining anything, possessing anything, and yet not feel any joy from it!
So if you have to choose between these two situations – owning everything but losing the ability to appreciate it or, on the other hand, owning very little but keeping your zest for life –
choose to keep your zest for life, and the least thing will bring you joy."

    Why me?

    WORD FOR THE DAY
    Tuesday, Jun. 23

"Some one ought to do it,

but why should I?" -- "Some

one ought to do it, so why not I?"

    Between these two sentences

    Strength

Daily meditation Tuesday 23rd of June 2009

"Someone declares, ‘I feel strong; no woman can seduce me, whatever tricks she uses’, and he thinks he’s an ascetic. But surround him with pretty young girls, and see how he acts then. And then there are others who claim to be honest and good, but if you give them access to lots of money or great powers, can you be sure they won’t take advantage of it by getting rich dishonestly or cutting off a few heads? Those who are truly strong show their strength in situations where they are most exposed to temptation, when they become even stronger, more enlightened and nobler. These situations are a kind of test, and instead of undermining them, these tests allow them to discover unsuspected resources inside themselves.
So long as people have not proved themselves, you cannot really know them; what’s more they cannot know themselves either. It’s only afterwards that they know themselves, only afterwards that they become aware of their strength or weakness."

    The Light of The World

Daily meditation Monday 22nd of June 2009

"Jesus said, ‘I am the light of the world’. But in the Sermon on the Mount he also said to his followers, ‘You are the light of the world’. So, what he said for himself, he also said for us. Light is heavenly fire, a spark of which dwells within us as our spirit, and if, from this spark, we gradually succeed in illuminating our whole being, we will possess the same powers and bring the same blessings as does light. There is no point claiming to be Christian, a disciple of Christ, if you do not work to achieve what Jesus himself achieved to be able to say, ‘I am the light of the world’.
Of course, anyone can claim, ‘I am the light of the world’, but if they haven’t first done the work that would give them the right to say these words they expose themselves to grave danger. Why, yes, many people considered insane doubtless possess an intuition of their true divine nature, but it isn’t enough to have this intuition and broadcast it to everyone. They have to try to make it a reality and, in the meantime, remain humble and work."

    Respect

Daily meditation Saturday 20th of June 2009

"Parents provide for their children’s physical needs and education, and they imagine that’s enough. Well, no, it’s not, and this illusion can only provoke conflicts between the generations. Why? Because later, when the children are well educated, learned even, and influenced by some ideology or another, they will confront their parents and discuss things their parents know nothing about. All they know is that their children have become strangers to them and sometimes even enemies. So there you have the poor parents – who often went to great lengths to educate their children – bewildered at the way their offspring use their education to treat them with contempt and argue all the more forcefully with them.
More and more, these days, you meet such ungrateful, disrespectful children. But whose fault is it? When their parents raised them, why did they not consider any values higher than the faculties of the intellect? Why did they, themselves, not work to acquire light and virtues, so that their children, in spite of all their knowledge, would always feel respect for them?"

    Want/need
