"Each person is free to choose their path; they can even decide to distance themselves from the Lord, but what of their destiny then? Those who set themselves apart from God, who do not want to be in the light, what plans can they have? Just ordinary ones: they want to become rich, powerful and glorious; they want to eat, drink and sample every pleasure. And because their ideal is so mediocre, they are there crawling around exploring the lower regions, where disappointment and unhappiness await them. Just by knowing what someone’s ideal is, you can predict their future: they will go where their ideal takes them. It couldn’t be easier for those with a knowledge of initiatic Science to prophesy other people’s future. When you see which track a train is on, you can tell exactly what its destination is and which route it will take to get there. "

"Several characters are having a confrontation on stage. It appears so convincing, the audience is passionately taking sides with one lot against another. But if a member of the audience were to go backstage during the interval, they would find the same characters they’d just seen up in arms and about to murder each other now chatting amicably as they wait to go back on stage. How have they become friends again? It’s very simple, these men and women are not enemies: on stage they are in a play where their part involves confrontation, and they are true to their part; they know they are acting. But as soon as they leave the stage, they are friends. Human life is a stage, as many people have said! Only, it’s not enough just to say it, there are conclusions to be drawn. When human beings finally become aware of the comedies they play, they will be happy to go onto the battlefield with their weapons loaded with blanks; they’ll pretend to fight for a bit, feel better, and then embrace and return home to fanfares."

"Nourishing oneself is not just about eating and drinking, which we do every day. Nourishing oneself is a process involving the entire cosmos. Yes, human beings have been created to receive all the elements necessary for life, and in every region of space they can find nourishment suitable not just for their physical body but for their etheric, astral, mental, causal, buddhic and atmic bodies as well. Try to understand this, and you will begin to experience creation as an immense symphony. But, of course, for these exchanges to take place, the channels of communication must be kept open. All the while they are not, circulation is poor, and like blocked pipes they have to be unblocked. How? On the physical level, we can change our diet, do a fast, take purgatives or enemas, and so on. On the psychological level, we can remove the blockages by making rigorous choices as regards our thoughts and feelings, so that we keep only those that are the most luminous, disinterested and generous."

If you want to receive divine light,
pray. If you have begun to make
progress and want this light to be
intensified within you, pray. And if
you have reached the summit of
perfection and want to be super
-illumined so as to remain in that
state, pray. |

"Since humans have a physical body, a heart, a mind, a soul and a spirit, they live on different levels. But on these different levels, it’s possible that some conditions may be of benefit to them and help their evolution, while others are adverse and prevent them from developing, so that there are those who develop, while others collapse, and vice versa. For example, some people have highly developed intellectual faculties but terrible health. Why? Because there are forces and currents in the universe that are not fully in accord with certain aspects of their life and fight it, causing them disorders. All humans have to suffer this kind of conflict on one level or another. The only solution is harmony: when they harmonize with the sun, the stars, the earth and the whole of nature, all the powers of the cosmos will contribute to their development."

"As long as human beings do not receive the light of initiatic Science to make them aware of what they lack, they can remain content with how they are. But as soon as they receive this light, they are appalled, for they are forced to see they have wasted their time and energy on all sorts of useless or harmful activities. Then, all they want to do is close their eyes or run away. Well, no, however discouraging the reality we discover may be, we must not close our eyes or run away, for it’s still better to see clearly. If we refuse to accept reality, how can we improve situations? You will say, ‘But we’ll suffer!’ Yes, but it’s better to suffer and be in the light. There is nothing to be gained from remaining in illusions, for life is terrible: some time or other it will force us to see reality, and the more we delay, the more difficulties we will encounter."

"The medicine you take when you are ill has curative properties, of course. But if something in you were not contributing to your healing, it would not suffice and would not even be effective; that something is the very substance of your body, which is capable of fighting back, animated and fired as it is by the power of your spirit. Moreover, medicine, while combating disease, often weakens the organism as a whole. So the organism should be allowed to defend itself by awakening its own forces. Similarly, doctors should not just prescribe medicines. Their love for their patients, their compassion for their suffering and their wish to heal them give them a sort of magical power: powerful fluids emanate from their whole being and enter their patients, reviving them, restoring them to health. This is what students of medicine should also be taught: that material remedies are not enough and that they themselves must, by their presence, become a living medicine for their patients."

"A country’s destiny is not in the hands of politicians, however powerful they are. They may be able to delude themselves and others for a while, but not for long. All those who have imagined they held the fate of peoples in their hands, that they could do with them as they wished, have come to a bad end. For, however powerful they may be, it is not human beings who rule over the destiny of humanity but higher entities, which watch and intervene. Yes, there are other intelligences, other forces working towards a purpose that eludes us. This is why even very powerful secret societies that thought they would control the world have not succeeded, and most have been destroyed. Whereas, those who placed themselves in the service of the Lord, wishing to carry out his plans, may often have been trampled underfoot and massacred, but their ideal has never disappeared; it is still on the move, for God’s plans are always for humanity’s liberation, development and salvation."

"Invisible entities accompany human beings throughout their life. Wherever humans have to go, luminous, helpful entities prepare the way for them, whereas dark, harmful entities oppose everything useful and constructive they wish to undertake and chase them up blind alleys. When a king travels, he is preceded by servants, who prepare for his coming: when he arrives, everything is ready, because he is the king. But when it’s a beggar, who takes the trouble to make his travel arrangements? It’s the same with the inner life: those who are kings or princes automatically find the way ahead free and a great many people there to greet them, whereas beggars – symbolically, people lacking in virtues – won’t be welcome anywhere. The secret of the true life, therefore, is to seek to become king of oneself, a king who controls his own thoughts, feelings and actions. Those who are truly master of their kingdom are always preceded by beings that prepare the best conditions for them."

"Keep the image of the summit inside you, as it is one of the best symbols for the divine ideal that you must strive to reach. Even if it always remains inaccessible to you, the important thing is never to lose sight of it. When you concentrate on the image of the summit, you are obliged to keep reaching further forward, to climb higher with each step, and gradually you will feel how beneficially this mental habit is reflected in your everyday life. Each time you have a problem to solve, a decision to make, a difficulty to confront, you will feel you can control the situation better, because you are managing to view it from further away, from higher up. And when you have to act, you will do it with less and less risk of making mistakes."

"There is no justification for being sad, when your sadness has selfish motives. You’ll tell me there are reasons for your unhappiness, as you encounter nothing but failure and can see no real future for yourself… Well, you’re seeing things wrong: days follow each other and are never the same, and even if the sun is hidden behind clouds today, tomorrow you will see it rise, and everything will smile on you. ‘Yes, but,’ some people say, ‘I’m already old, what can I hope for?’ Don’t you know, one day you will come back to earth again as a child, and children are permitted to hope for anything, and you will begin a new life, enriched by past experience? And someone else will complain, ‘I was rich, and I’ve lost everything.’ But you can get your wealth back, who’s to stop you? Or, ‘I’ve lost people I loved…’ If you really loved them, you will find them again. There is an answer to every argument put forward by sadness. You should not dwell all the time on weakness, grief, fatigue, failure and loss. Everything can be resolved when you call on the help of love, wisdom and truth."
