"By concentrating their efforts on the transformation of matter, alchemists had a better understanding of spiritual work than many so-called spiritual people, who concentrate all their efforts on escaping matter and separating the body and spirit. Alchemy does not cut humans in two: into a spirit, which alone is worthy of our attention, and a body that should be ignored, despised and mistreated. No, spirit and matter, the spirit and the body, have work to do together. The body is not the spirit’s tomb. Or, to be more precise, the body is only the spirit’s tomb for those who have not understood the meaning of the first verse in Genesis: ‘In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.’ Yes, not just the heavens but the heavens and the earth. By ‘heavens’ we are meant to understand ‘spirit’, and by ‘earth’ ‘matter’; if God created both, it is because they have something to do together. To separate the body from the spirit is to separate a house from its roof: exposed to bad weather, it collapses, and what does the roof do if it doesn’t have four walls to rest on?"

"Faced with what they see in the world, everyone has reason to be bewildered and anxious. What else can they do? Some will consult psychologists, psychoanalysts; others – and this is increasingly prevalent nowadays – will seek answers from astrologers, mediums and clairvoyants. This proves they haven’t understood where and how to find truths that would offer them real certainty, real reason for facing the future with confidence. There are people who are able to decipher the future, but they are rare. And even if they give you information about events that come to pass, it will still be up to you to discover how to act so you don’t spoil all your opportunities and are able to face your difficulties. Well then, instead of going to question all and sundry, it would be more reasonable if you spent your time constructing something solid within yourself, for this would allow you to make use of everything that happens to you – the joy and the sadness, the success and the failure – for the good of your evolution."

"The method scientists use is analysis: they separate, cut, dissect and split things up, and this method has now spread to all areas of life. Of course, when you are faced with a problem you have to analyse it, but if you want to find the best solution, the most effective method is synthesis; in other words, you must place the problem in the context of the whole. Synthesis alone gives life. When we frantically analyse and dissect things and people, we march towards death, first spiritual death and then physical death. What is individualism? A kind of analysis that pushes people to become detached, to isolate themselves, to separate themselves from others, to reinforce walls and frontiers; this analysis also ends in spiritual death. A community, a brotherhood, on the other hand, is a synthesis that brings life. So long as humans do not wish to achieve universal brotherhood in the world, they will destroy themselves. In order to live, one must have a high ideal, and this ideal is the kingdom of God, which is none other than true universal brotherhood."

"Human beings, created as they are in the image of God, are, in essence, pure spirit. So, why did they come to earth? To study, to explore matter, for this is how they will develop their brain’s full potential. During this descent, their five senses, the intermediaries between spirit and matter, acquired such importance that humans eventually lost their consciousness of the divine world; they severed the link with it, and they now no longer even feel its presence, and this has obviously impoverished them a great deal. Even so, humanity’s contact with matter will remain an extraordinary acquisition. It is part of cosmic Intelligence’s plan to lead human beings to perfection. When they have passed through the opaqueness of matter, through illness and death, they will return to the true life, to light and freedom, strengthened by these experiences, and it is then they will fully know their Creator."

"Committing yourself to the spiritual life requires efforts you may have no wish to make, that’s understood… But, all the same, try at least to understand intellectually the advantages of living this life. Once you have understood, you will find it easier to make the effort to commit yourself to it. Let’s take an example: you have to have your teeth seen to, and that annoys you, which is normal: you’re afraid it will hurt, but you decide to do it all the same; your intellect has understood it’s for the best, and you accept you have to go. Well then, why not do the same thing in the spiritual domain? Tell yourself, ‘Of course, I’ll suffer, but it’s for the best, and I’ll manage to solve so many problems as a result!’ And that’s it, you go to the ‘dentist’! So you must first understand the advantages of the spiritual life, then you should try to mix with people who live this life and, finally, do the spiritual exercises as though you’ve already acquired a taste for them. Tell yourself, ‘I don’t like it that much, but all the same I’m going to make the effort to pray, meditate and do the exercises; I’ll go to see the sunrise.’ And if you sincerely set to work, some time later you’ll find yourself needing and getting a taste for the spiritual life."

"You must put light in first place. For light is present in all things. When you become imbued with this truth, your whole life will be transformed. If, when you eat, you are conscious that your food – fruit, vegetables – is a condensation of the solar rays it has received, you create better physiological conditions for these rays to be absorbed and distributed throughout your organism. If you breathe with the conviction that you can attract light into yourself through your breathing, you are preparing yourself to receive celestial light, the spirit of God. For the light you see, the light coming from the sun, is only the most material form of light. Behind this light there are other subtler lights, and if you know how to relate to these, how to nourish yourself with them, they will bring you eternal life."

"All those who become aware of the existence of their inner world and work on it conscientiously with precision and clarity, using the most beautiful colours and forms, are no longer so concerned with social recognition. They know, they feel that their work is there, within themselves, they cannot be discouraged, they cannot doubt. They are painters, sculptors, architects, and they live amongst their creations. You will say, ‘That’s all very well, but no one sees their creations!’ Goodness me, they are not creating for humans but for other entities in the invisible world. These come to take a look, and then they reach a decision, they ‘buy’, and the artist becomes famous… on high! And if one day these entities decide to make an artist famous here on earth, it’s very easy for them to do so. But artists should not be seeking that kind of glory; it’s only heavenly entities they should be trying to impress and satisfy, asking them each day, ‘Well now, what do you think of my work today?’"

"Do you want to know what true spirituality is? Open the book of nature; that’s what will tell you most clearly. When winter arrives, the earth is less exposed to the sun, and nothing grows. The rivers are frozen. Life is in slow motion. But in spring, when the earth remains exposed to the sun’s light and warmth for longer, everything grows, everything becomes beautiful, rich, abundant, life circulates everywhere. Well, spirituality can be compared to the action of the sun on the earth. When our spirit begins to radiate, to penetrate all the cells of our organism with its love and light so as to harmonize them and make them sing in unison, then, yes, we are truly living the spiritual life. True spirituality is the sun acting on the earth, the spirit vivifying and animating our body until light, peace and plenitude come to inhabit us."

"The darkness you may perceive on someone’s face doesn’t necessarily mean they are motivated by bad feelings or bad intentions. If you don’t know enough to be able to judge, you may be wrong. It could be that someone else is projecting a shadow onto their face, rather than the person themselves being in darkness. It may also be a passing cloud or an object screening them. And if you happen to see light on a face, that can also be someone else playing with mirrors, projecting brightness. The person whose face you see lit up isn’t always the cause of the light: an entity may have come for a moment to play like that on their face, and when it goes away the light disappears; however hard you try you won’t find it again. To be able to discern the significance of different facial expressions, you have to be able to see and sense beyond appearances."

"Each day we are supported by the benevolent entities of the invisible world. If we are able to continue breathing, eating, walking and working, it’s because, every day, we receive this support; we are carried, helped and given the inspiration we need to become creators. For our part, we also support certain beings, who are unaware of where this help comes from. Every living being emits waves, and by nurturing luminous thoughts and warm feelings in ourselves, by praying and meditating, we send out beneficial waves with which we comfort all those in difficulty. How can that not bring joy and purpose to our life? How encouraging it is for us to feel we are supported by thousands of evolved entities and that we too can support other creatures!"
